Operation and management
The operation and management of the Alumni is outlined in its Constitution (currently in draft). Primarily, the constitution specifies that the Steering Committee (SC) will be responsible for determining the strategic objectives of the Alumni. The SC will consist of nine members, comprising:
Office of the alumni
CSIRO provides an office and staff to assist the CSIRO Alumni and its Chapters meet their objectives. The CSIRO Alumni Coordinator is Susan Smith. For further information go to Contacts and Enquiries.
Regional chapters, groups and networks
Regional Alumni chapters, groups and networks, supported by the Office of the Alumni are vital to giving the Alumni a life of its own, to give members the sorts of activities they want and to maintain and develop the network, both socially and professionally.
The main purposes of regional chapters are therefore to generate interest from local members, organise appropriate activities, help trace ‘lost' alumni, provide regional input in Alumni publications and newsletters and provide feedback to the Office of the Alumni and Steering Committee. Members can nominate which chapter they would like to be associated with.
Organisations or networks of CSIRO retirees already exist in some regions. Development of Alumni activities should preferably proceed in collaboration with or as a development of existing activities rather than be seen to be in conflict.
If you are interested in establishing a regional chapter, group or network or to be actively involved in an existing chapter or network, please contact the Office of the Alumni.
