Vale Keith Scott
Our colleague and friend Dr. Keith Scott collapsed suddenly at CSIRO North Ryde site on Tuesday 24 April. Sadly he has died - he was 64. Keith had an exemplary research history with CSIRO that began in 1969. He worked principally in regolith mineralogy and geochemistry throughout Australia, particularly in Mount Isa, the Yilgarn, the Drummond Basin and the Lachlan Fold Belt. Keith was widely recognized for his expertise in the mineralogy of weathered sulphide deposits and was actively developing the use of ilmenite alteration in exploration as part of MDU's Distal Footprints project. He was a valued member of CRC LEME, with close contacts in many of the affiliated organizations, and was greatly respected by the exploration industry with which he collaborated throughout his career. Beginning in 2006, Keith was an Honorary Fellow who continued to actively pursue his science interests and contribute to CSIRO. We offer our condolences to Keith's wife Lyn and to his family.
