Vale Dr Ian Rowley - tribute page now available
Sunday, 14 June 2009
CSIRO Alumni were saddened to learn of the death of their former colleague Ian Rowley in Perth on Friday 29th May aged 83. Ian joined CSIRO Wildlife Survey Section in Canberra in 1952 and retired from CSIRO Wildlife and Ecology in 1991. His early work was on the ecology and behaviour of rabbits. From the late 1950s until his death he worked on the ecology and social organisation of a number of bird species. He was a pioneer of studies on cooperative breeding in birds and his study of the superb fairy-wren is a classic. Please feel free to write comments and reminiscences in honour of Ian on our tribute blog which we will pass on to his family. Alumni members are able to add a 'new post' to the forum tribute page directly but if you are not an Alumni member and would like to contribute, please send your comments and reminiscences to susan.smith@csiro.au and we would be happy to post on the tribute page.
