CSIRO Dairy Research 20 Year Club members' luncheon
Wednesday, 4 August 2010
CSIRO Dairy Research 20 Year Club met at the Highett RSL for its biannual meeting on Wednesday 28th July 2010.
Nine previous staff members (see photos) met for lunch and lively reminiscences as well as discussions on current issues in the dairy industry.
The Club was first established around 1970 with the passing of the 20 year milestone for Dairy Research in CSIRO. At that time Dairy Research held Divisional status within CSIRO, but soon in 1972 was to be diluted to one of three units, along with Meat Research in Cannon Hill and Food Processing in North Ryde, within the Division of Food Science and Technology.
Amongst those at the latest meeting were several stalwarts from the earliest days of Dairy Research, including Les Hammond, who recently was acknowledged by the Dairy Industry Association of Australia (DIAA) for his contributions to Dairy research and technology. He has been awarded the Loftus Hill Award for Excellence in Dairy Science 2010.
