WA Chapter - Message from Dr. Adrian Peck, Chair

Following an invitation for nominations that was circulated to members of the WA Chapter of CSIRO Alumni, an election for members of the Committee of this Chapter was held at the Christmas BBQ at Floreat Park on Thursday, 1 December 2011. By a show of hands, the following were elected:

· Greg Bartle

· David Bennett

· Neil Turner

· Bernadette Waugh

As former Chair, I will continue as a member of the Committee of the WA Chapter, and in this capacity, I will convene a meeting of this new committee early in the New Year to:

· Elect a new Chair;

· Coopt additional members to the Committee (previously we had 5 coopted members); and

· Plan future functions for the WA Chapter.

In coopting additional members to the Committee, we will aim to ensure a spread of members over previous employment groups (=Divisions). Please let me know if you would like to volunteer for membership of the Committee. This is not an onerous task as in the past it has been primarily to provide suggestions and comments at informal lunches or by email.

The major on-going activities for the alumni in WA are the Brodie-Hall address, the informal History of CSIRO in WA, and social gatherings. The Committee would always welcome any suggestions that members may have for additional functions during the coming year and further ahead.
